Our History
The housing management body was formed January 1, 1995 through a Ministerial Order from the Government of Alberta to manage the government-owned properties. Before that time, a variety of community & church groups were managing the portfolio as individual projects and reporting to Alberta Municipal Affairs. In most cases, a board member from each site was appointed to the new Board of Directors. There has been changes in participating members over the years, as well as elected representation.
On June 9, 2022, after operating for 60 years as a division of Lloydminster Region Housing Group (LRHG), Pioneer Lodge and House has passed a motion to join with the LRHG’s Board of Directors. This new structure establishes one board and one administration for all of Alberta’s social housing portfolio in our area.
Our properties are owned by the Province of Alberta, and the housing management body was established January 1, 1995. Before that time, a variety of community & church groups were managing the portfolio as individual projects and reporting to Alberta Municipal Affairs. When the Ministerial Order came down the housing management bodies were formed and, in most cases, a board member from each site was appointed to the new Board of Directors. There has been changes in participating groups over the years and is currently reflected as this: The municipalities that contribute elected representation are the City of Lloydminster, County of Vermilion River, Village of Kitscoty and Village of Marwayne. In addition, we have volunteer board members from First Baptist Church, Southridge Community Church, Knox Presbyterian Church and a member-at-large appointed by his excellency, the Mayor, for the City of Lloydminster.
